Repair or Replace: How We Decide

Four things decide whether damage can be repaired: how big it is, how deep it goes, where it sits on the glass, and how long it has been open to dirt and moisture. A chip smaller than a quarter, outside the driver's primary viewing area, away from the edge of the glass, and still reasonably clean is usually a repair candidate.

Once a crack runs past roughly six inches, crosses your line of sight, reaches the bonded perimeter, or breaks through both layers of the laminate, resin cannot restore the strength of the panel and replacement is the honest recommendation. We tell you which category your damage falls into before quoting anything.

What Changes the Price on Your Vehicle

Glass is not a single commodity. Rain sensors, humidity sensors, heated wiper park areas, acoustic interlayers, heads-up display coatings, embedded antennas, and forward-facing cameras all change the part number and the labor. Vehicles with a camera mounted to the windshield are designed to be recalibrated after replacement, and we raise that before the appointment rather than after.
