Repair, Replacement, and Scheduling

How do I know whether my windshield can be repaired instead of replaced?

Repair is usually considered for chips smaller than about a quarter and short cracks that are not in the driver's primary viewing area, not at the edge of the glass, and not contaminated with dirt or moisture. Damage that is long, deep, spread into multiple legs, or sitting in your line of sight generally calls for replacement. We look at the damage before recommending either option.

Can you replace a windshield at my home or workplace?

Yes, mobile service is a core part of what we do. We need a level, reasonably clean space with room to work around the vehicle, and weather that allows the adhesive to cure properly. Heavy rain, snow, or strong wind can push an outdoor appointment to another day or another location.

How long does a windshield replacement take?

The installation itself commonly runs about 60 to 90 minutes for most vehicles. After that, the adhesive needs its own safe drive-away time, which depends on the product used and the temperature that day. We tell you the specific wait before we start.

Does my vehicle need a camera recalibration?

Many vehicles built in the last decade have a forward-facing camera or sensor mounted to the windshield for lane keeping, automatic braking, or adaptive cruise. Those systems are designed to be recalibrated after the glass is replaced. We check your specific vehicle and tell you whether calibration applies and how it will be handled before you commit.

What does windshield replacement cost in Boise?

Price depends on the vehicle, the glass specification, features built into the glass such as rain sensors or heating elements, and whether calibration is required. We give a vehicle-specific estimate rather than a single flat number, and we explain what is driving it.

Can I use my auto insurance?

That depends on your own policy, your comprehensive coverage, and your deductible. We are not able to tell you what your insurer will approve. We can give you a written estimate and the vehicle and glass details you need to have that conversation with your carrier.

Which areas do you serve?

We serve Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Eagle, Garden City, Kuna, Star, Caldwell, Middleton, and nearby parts of the greater Treasure Valley.

Is it illegal to drive with a cracked windshield in Idaho?

Idaho law addresses obstructions to the driver's clear view. A crack that sits in your line of sight can create a problem beyond the safety risk itself, and a compromised windshield also affects how the glass supports the roof and airbag deployment. If damage is spreading across your view, it is worth handling promptly.

Aftercare and Glass Beyond the Windshield

What should I do right after a rock chip?

Keep the vehicle out of direct sun, avoid blasting the defroster on cold glass, skip the car wash, and cover the chip with clear tape to keep dirt and moisture out. A clean chip repairs much better than one that has been open for a month.

How soon can I drive after a windshield replacement?

It depends on the urethane used and the temperature that day, which is why we give you a specific safe drive-away time before the job starts rather than a generic number. Plan on waiting at the vehicle for that window.

What should I avoid in the first day or two after replacement?

Leave the retention tape on as instructed, avoid automatic car washes and high pressure water at the edges, do not slam doors with the windows fully closed, and leave a window cracked slightly for the first day to reduce cabin pressure.

Will a repaired chip disappear completely?

No. Resin repair restores strength and stops the damage from spreading, and it usually improves clarity a lot, but a faint mark often remains. Anyone promising an invisible result is overselling it.

Do you work on side windows and back glass too?

Yes. Side and rear glass is tempered, so it breaks into fragments rather than cracking, which makes it a replacement job with real cleanup attached. We vacuum the door cavity and interior as part of the work.

What happens if the weather turns on my appointment day?

Adhesive cure is temperature and moisture dependent. If conditions would compromise the bond we reschedule or move to a sheltered location. We would rather move an appointment than hand back a windshield that was installed in the wrong conditions.
